Intro: Jack is a really special dog to us! He is our second generation breeding from one of our foundation dogs, Cece. Jack is a littermate brother to Maggie. From the time he was a baby, he has always been super sweet and affectionate. He has never, ever gotten into an argument with another dog and he’s good with dogs of all ages, genders, etc. He was the only dog I was showing for a while when our daughter was just born, and he was incredibly gentle with her. We traveled all over with the two of them, and never once did he jump on her or accidentally hurt her. Not only does he have a wonderful temperament, he had some of the biggest wins of any of our dogs. At the Chesapeake specialty, he defeated around 15 dogs for a 4 point major at only 14 months old, under breeder judge Jessica Breinholt. He placed fourth in a large, competitive bred-by class at the 2025 National. Recently, he finished his championship in style, taking a 4 point major at the Yankee specialty under breeder judge Dr. David Qualls. He’s our first light red dog, and his coat is just stunningly beautiful. Pictures never do it justice!
Health & Conformation: Jack is OFA eyes normal (not sure why his results aren’t recorded on OFA, but we do have his paperwork). He is also clear of SPS1 and SHPN1. Jack was a very slow maturing boy, so I took my time finishing him. After his first big win at Chesapeake, he hit another growth spurt, and you really couldn’t look at him for a while. I gave him more than a year off, and I decided he was ready to show just before the National. He has always been a balanced dog with correct movement. His movement has earned him many ringside compliments, especially at specialties and at the National. He has ideal substance, coat, and proportions. I would like just a little bit more front angle on him. Jack is a top-of-the-standard boy at 23.5 inches and around 55 pounds.
Temperament: Other Siberian people always say that their boys are more affectionate than their girls, but that has never been true for us! We’ve had very sweet boys who love to get hugs and to rub up on you like a cat, but they would come for attention and then be off. Inside the house, they’d prefer to find an AC vent and lie on top of it. Jack is the first boy we’ve had who demands pets and will paw at you to keep petting him. He is very needy, and I knew from early on that when he retired from showing, I would find a wonderful family for him where he would be showered with attention. Overall, Jack is a very calm dog and easy to travel with. The first time we spent the night at a hotel, we crated him and he went right to sleep! That was a first for us. Jack is just such an easy dog to live with — you can take him out to dinner and he will hang out patiently. The only times he complains are when you take another dog out instead of him and if you blow him out.
Drive/handler focus: Jack has decent handler drive, but his food drive is not the best, so it can be difficult to get his attention, especially if we are outdoors. I haven’t done a whole lot of training or harness work with him, though, and I’m sure he would improve with time. The boys in this line are very slow maturing mentally.
